"I a goc-tor"
Kara has managed to cobble on to one of my dust masks. She'll put it on and then say "I a goctor (doctor)" I'm not quite sure where she has seen a doctor with a mask on, but it is so cute! So the other night Daddy had some boo-boos that needed medice. Doctor Kara came to the rescue.

Trouble
Kara got in trouble last night after we finished dinner at our favorite Mexican place. She got to running in the grass in front, which is right by the street, and just kept running and running even though I hollered at her to stop. After I caught up with her and swatted her she was upset, but the tears really started flowing when her Daddy told her she was a bad girl. I swear she BAWLED at the thought that Mommy and Daddy thought she was bad. This of course lead to a complete apology on her part and promises not to do that again.
We are also making excellent progress on the giving up of her "dah-dah". While she still asks for it just out of habit I've managed not to give in, so that is good on my part!

Housecleaning with a toddler is like...
herding cats. Seriously, the fun never ends around here. I've been working for 8 days in a row, and my poor house sure does show it. Kara's room is especially terrible with toys, clothes, books, and other assorted things all over the small amount of floor space she has. Her daddy came in last night and told the pair of us "Kara, you and mommy need to clean your room while Mommy is off this weekend." Kara's response was to sigh and say "Again?" And that is exactly how I feel. It seems I no more than complete a cleaning task and have to start back over at the beginning again.
In preparation of this cleaning to come, I went to the wally-world and bought some more containery type things to store toys in. She seems very interested in them and keeps telling me she wants to pick up toys, but I'm almost out of energy just thinking about it!

Doing much better now
Kara's face is healing well, although she still insists that she needs a 'banaid" on it most of the time. She's also no longer rashy from whatever might have been causing that, so we are very happy!
She's spent the better part of the last two days back in our bed with me, keeping me from getting enough good quality sleep. I feel terrible because I was very short with her yesterday afternoon. I really felt like bad mommy for having such a short fuse.
Only a few more days of an 8-day stretch to go at work, and then maybe I'll get a chance to get the camera out and have new pics!

OUCH!
Kara has been my little medical problem the last week or so. First I had to take her to Express Care on a Saturday to get antibiotics for a UTI. Then on Thursday I had a rude awakening when Blaine brought her home with a cut on her face. His exact words were "get up, put on your glasses, and come see if you think she needs stitches" Not a good thing at 415 in the afternoon when your doctor is 45 minutes away. Luckily we have a nurse friend who got us in at her workplace. Even luckier she didn't need stitches. But she sure does have a pretty good cut and a shiner to show for it.

To make this story funny, I have to say that today she told me "I have a boo-boo on my face because Uncle Brosh hit me with a broom". Brosh being Kara's name for poor Josh. She may never let him live it down.
And to end our misery, she is now covered in hives, I'm thinking a reaction to the meds. Get well already kid!

Go Royals Part II
We went to another Royals game this past Friday. It was hot and muggy, just as I expected. Our seats were really good, although most of the seats that I've had at Royals games have been good so I can't complain. The kids were pretty hot and tired, and Kenny even slept through quite a bit of the game (no nap, sorry kiddo!) even with the drunk loud guys behind us. Kara spent a lot of the game telling me she "want go momma!" She did enjoy her dollar hot dog and drink, a few peanuts, and cotton candy. She did perk up during the seventh inning stretch when we were able to stand and sing. And she was pretty happy about the fireworks too.
Here's Kara with Uncle Les, Aunt Brina and Cousin Kenny before the game started

And this is Kara during the opening announcements of the lineup and such. She would sit with hands on knees until it was time to clap, then went to town with the clapping

Once again, the Royals lost. Blaine says I'm not allowed to watch or listen the rest of the season, because me paying attention to them must be what is causing them to lose.

Open Wide
Post swim, baby Landen was hungry, so his mommy and daddy found him some yummy sweet potatoes. He wasn't really cooperating with the spoon, so first Mommy tried, then Daddy, and finally Kara jumped in and said "I do it!" She took over the spoon and told Landen to "open up Wanden", and after he had taken the bite from her she told him he was a "GOOD BOY"
