One fun weekend

We had a super fun weekend around here this past weekend.

We kicked off on Friday with a trip to Chanute to go to the library. We also went to a farm store and placed an order for our baby chicks. I can't wait to see how Kara does with them!

On Saturday Kara and I went and picked up Grandma Laurie to go to Pittsburg and shop. Mom and I also had haircuts this day. At the mall we ran in to a very special bunny, and Kara just HAD to sit on his lap. She was very brave to go up there, but the poor photographer had to work VERY hard to get any kind of smile out of her. He even had to have Mr. Bunny tickle her!

We ended our day with a trip to the movies to watch Monsters vs. Aliens. Kara LOVED it! She sat still the whole movie through and even today will tell people all about it.

Sunday we went to church, and Kara and another girl had a great time smacking each other with the palm fronds for Palm Sunday. We spent the afternoon playing at Grandma and Papa's. Kara was so worn out that she fell asleep on the way back home, and only woke up once in the middle of the night for a drink and to change beds!

Tony and Emily's wedding

Kara was the flower girl for Tony and Emily yesterday. She did a great job, and I'm so relieved that she didn't call TOO much attention to herself. These are just a few pictures that I took for the day. Since the uploader didn't work the way I wanted it to, I can't put captions for each of them, but most of them are self explanitory. Kara is really good at the chicken dance, by the way!

Cellphone video

I was going to try and post some of Kara's videos from my phone for you, but I've fiddled with it and can't seem to get it to work for me, so I doubt it would work for you either :(

New hairdo

I decided I had finally had enough wrestling around to get the tangles out of Kara's hair every day. She didn't like to have ANYTHING done to it. This weekend I did something about it. Here are before and after pictures from Kara's biggest haircut yet.

Before from the back:
Before from the front:

Shelli doing the duty! Thank goodness she is so patient and has so much experience with little ones!

After from behind:

After from the front. Kara really enjoyed playing at Shelli's after the "beauty shop" was done. She ran and played with all the dogs. And the best part of that was it gave her hair a chance to fall where it normally would so we could get her bangs just right!

A toddler's worldview

Santa brought Kara her very own camera for Christmas. I finally took the time the other day to upload the 100+ pictures she had taken with it. I was very interested in what I found. I just find it neat to see the world from her perspective. She did take a lot of Christmas morning pics that had half faces, up the nose shots, and butts (dog, Cousin Kenny, Cousin Landen). These were some of the most interesting to me.

Here is a self portrait. The set up of the camera makes it very easy for her to turn it around and take pics of herself because the button is on the front rather than the top of the camera.

This is her Diego train that she was so happy to get. I wasn't surprised to see several pictures of it pop up when the pictures came up on the computer.

She had her camera in the bank one day, all the pics from that are angled upward. I guess that is where all the important stuff is when you are her height.

Christmas breakfast. While she didn't eat much of it, she obviously found it exciting enough to photograph.

A close up of Grandma Jo's Christmas sweatshirt.

Our Angel Girl

Once again my pictures came up in reverse order! Anyway, Kara was an angel at church for this year's Christmas cantata. I hear she was quite entertaining, but I was backstage helping out and so I missed the most entertaining parts!
For Christmas this year, she had a pretty specific list, she wanted a Puppy with goggles that swims, and a "niego" (Diego) toy. Unfortunately, Santa delivered both these gifts to Grandma and Papa's, so every gift she opened at home she asked before opening "this my niego toy?" She did seem to enjoy her Kid Tough camera though, and I will have to upload pics from it soon since she has been taking so many. Most of them appear to be half faces and dog bottoms, but she certainly had a good time!
At any rate, we had a wonderful Christmas, and hope everyone else did as well!

December Checkin

I realized this morning it has been a long time since I've written anything here. Since my last post, we have been a pretty busy family! Blaine and I went with Les and Sabrina and some others to watch the Cheifs play the Bucs. It was a very exciting game, even if my poor Chiefs lost. Blaine was a happy camper though! Then the week after that, Shelli, Tammy, Michelle and I went to the New Kids on the Block concert in KC. Shelli and I didn't get home until after 4 in the morning but we had SUCH AN AWESOME TIME!!!

Also since I last posted, Blaine's Granny fell and broke her shoulder. She is currently doing therapy/recovery at the nursing home. I miss having her at home!

So Christmas is coming. I've pretty much finished my shopping, just need to get a few things found to give Blaine, since he has already purchased his own "big" gift (or so he says). Kara and I got the tree up, after a minor disaster involving the base. The base broke just as I finished putting the dratted thing together and had the lights on it! Thank goodness Mom bought multiple trees when she bought this one, I was able to just pop it out of the broken one and into the one from the spare. So Kara posed for a few pics lately:
Here she is playing a horn tree ornament. She really got into the decorating this year, so most of the ornaments are on the lower branches.

Since she is being the "forman" at the farm with Granny being gone, her daddy bought her some coverall options to keep her warm in the truck. Every morning Daddy asks what they are going to do that day, and Kara says "feed cows" I think the cows are WAY better fed right now than they've ever been!

And finally, Grandma Laurie found Kara the perfect shirt. Grandma is always saying that Kara is proof that the mother's curse works, and now I can dress her to advertise that fact. Mom also found Landen one just like it, so I will have to get a few of the two of them together!
