Christmas program

Kara was a sheep for the church Christmas program this year. She had a line and everything. She did a wonderful job at the practices, but when we got to church this morning she decided she didn't want to be a sheep after all. She told me "me no want to be a sheep, they can find that baby by themselves". Hopefully I can load the video for you and that line will make more sense. :)

Video upload doesn't seem to be working for me today, I'll have to try again later!

Kara's a Big Sister now

Chloe Mae was born on Nov 3rd at 928 am. She weighed 7 lbs 12 oz and was 20 1/2 in long. Kara ended up being thrilled to have a baby sister, even though for most of my pregnancy she was sure she needed a baby brother. I was somewhat surprised because my "mommy sense" had been saying boy the whole time. But as I said over and over during pregnancy, I just wanted a healthy baby.

Kara has been a great helper and fetches things for me for the baby all the time. She asks to hold the baby daily and wants to be right next to her all the time. The rest of us are adjusting to having a newborn again, and we are dealing ok with the sleep deprivation. LOL

She's four today

My sweet baby has grown up into a beautiful little girl. I don't know how it happened. It seems like yesterday she looked like this.

First day of school

Kara started preschool at Erie this year. She really seems excited to be going to school, and wakes up EVERY morning raring to go. Someday I'll get her to understand the concept of weekends. We drop her off at school and she gets to ride the big bus home. She loves it! The whole first two weeks of school she insisted her daddy take her fishing before and after school. They are getting pretty lucky it seems!

End of summer fun

Kara has had a lot of fun this summer. Toward the end we had my friend from work bring over her two little ones to swim and see the critters and Grandma and Papa's. Kara and Derek have decided they will be getting married when they are grown up. LOL They are pretty funny together!

I also love this pic of Kara and Landen after a swim. They are having a snack of milk and animal crackers to rebuild their energy!

Happy 4th!

We had a fun 4th of July. We spent the day at Grandma and Papa's looking at their new goats and new llama. Kara has decided to name the new llama Number 2 Steve, after their previous male llama. I sorta feel sorry for him! On the evening of the 4th we had a family dinner and then fireworks. Daddy was in charge of lighting everything off and he did a wonderful job. Kara wasn't really a big fan of the sparklers, she would hold one for about half the sparkler worth then wanted someone else to take over. I was able to get some good pictures though.

Haven't posted in a while

There hasn't been too much new going on around here to take pictures of, so I haven't bothered to log on.

Kara is super excited to be a big sister, although she is CERTAIN she will be having a baby brother, and won't take any other answer. I had toyed with the idea of actually finding out the baby's sex at my next ultrasound (This Thursday, I can't wait!) so I could start preparing her if baby is actually a sister. Then I realized that it isn't going to matter, because she will not believe that baby isn't a brother until she can physically see it herself. So we will be going with the original plan of not finding out. I figure what will actually happen is we will have an exhibitionist baby that let's know even though we don't want to!

She is also become super-observant. The other morning I had changed from work clothes into shorts and a T-shirt. She noticed immediately that the shirt I had on wasn't mine, and said "Mommy, why you wearing Daddy's shirt?" I told her that the baby had made my belly big enough that I couldn't wear my own shirts anymore. She then wanted to know "After my baby brother gets here, will you be able to wear your own shirts again?" I told her I certainly hoped so!

And I guess I was lying when I said I had no pictures this time, I just didn't take them with my camera is all. Last week Kara spent the night with Grandma and Papa so Mommy and Daddy could celebrate their anniversary and Daddy's birthday (we had dinner and grownup movie = heaven!) The next day I went over to sleep before work, and she decided to wear this getup to pickup pizza for supper. Don't blame me, I wanted to change her, but Uncle Matt said it would be fine, and he was the one taking her.

She uses this vest as part of her 'dragonslayer' getup, complete with nerf sword. She usually makes Matt be the dragon!

Graduations

We had a busy weekend this past weekend, with several graduations we could have attended. We opted to only go to my brother Matt's and Blaine's brother Josh's. Even still it wore us out, since one graduation was in Pittsburg in the morning and the other at KU in the afternoon. For Kara the best part was the hotel we stayed at that had an indoor pool and a "huzzi" tub!

Baby Nathan

Kara's newest cousin was born May 6th. So on Mother's Day we went by for a visit. Kara was so sweet with baby Nathan. It makes me very hopeful that she will be a good big sister. She even did a pretty good job trying to hold him all by herself.

Uncle Bosh's wedding

Kara's Uncle "Bosh" got married last weekend. I thought it would be nice to get some pictures of us all when we were all dressed up. They didn't turn out half bad!

Swordfighting Masters!

Mom bought these foam swords for the kids to play with. Kara has been using them for a while now to slay dragons (mostly her Uncle Matt). Over this past weekend we were finally able to get Landen in on the fighting. I think these kids have a new favorite toy at Grandma's!

Kara's Baby "Brudder"

We've finally told everyone that we are expecting a new baby. Kara is certain that she will be getting a brother, so I'm just going to humour her for now.

We told Blaine's Granny by handing her the u/s pics and having her guess what the picture was of. Her eyes must be really bad since she guessed a car window or an arm. This prompted Kara to beg to see them, and she said "Granny, it's a triangle" I've laughed and laughed over that, although she does have a point, because the way the u/s works the first pic does have the outline of a triangle.

So now she has questions about how the baby is doing on a daily basis. Before I went to work on that first night we told her she wanted to know what I was going to do with the baby while I was at work. I told her the baby would just be coming with me for a little while yet. She also laid her head on my tummy and told me that she could hear the baby crying. The following night she wanted to know what the baby eats. I told her baby still gets his food from Mommy, so he eats what I eat. After supper she asked "did the baby like his macaroni and peas?"

Such a smart kiddo! If only this next one can be as sharp we will be in good shape!

Happy Easter

Hope everyone had a Happy Easter! Here are a few pics from ours. On Saturday I took Kara to the city egg hunt at the park. She was really more interested in playing on the playground than she was in getting eggs, but she seemed to have a good time. The only wrinkle in the day was that they had a "bunny catch" and she wasn't the one that caught the bunny and got to take him home.

On Easter Kara and I went to church with Grandma and Papa. Mommy got to sing in the choir while Kara played in the nursery. She wasn't real up on having her picture taken in her pretty dress afterwards, because she was ready to watch a movie and get comfy. That afternoon she got to build a cookie bunny house with Matt and Mir. The poor kid got worn out halfway through and told Uncle Matt he could finish it himself. Then she settled in to watch a movie with them and fell asleep. Poor kiddo was running a fever and didn't even wake up for the party that evening. So there was no actual egg hunting on Easter day!

And this final pic is of Kara wearing my concert t-shirt from my last NKOTB concert. She really wanted to try it on, and then once it was on it was too cute not to take a picture of!

One fun weekend

We had a super fun weekend around here this past weekend.

We kicked off on Friday with a trip to Chanute to go to the library. We also went to a farm store and placed an order for our baby chicks. I can't wait to see how Kara does with them!

On Saturday Kara and I went and picked up Grandma Laurie to go to Pittsburg and shop. Mom and I also had haircuts this day. At the mall we ran in to a very special bunny, and Kara just HAD to sit on his lap. She was very brave to go up there, but the poor photographer had to work VERY hard to get any kind of smile out of her. He even had to have Mr. Bunny tickle her!

We ended our day with a trip to the movies to watch Monsters vs. Aliens. Kara LOVED it! She sat still the whole movie through and even today will tell people all about it.

Sunday we went to church, and Kara and another girl had a great time smacking each other with the palm fronds for Palm Sunday. We spent the afternoon playing at Grandma and Papa's. Kara was so worn out that she fell asleep on the way back home, and only woke up once in the middle of the night for a drink and to change beds!

Tony and Emily's wedding

Kara was the flower girl for Tony and Emily yesterday. She did a great job, and I'm so relieved that she didn't call TOO much attention to herself. These are just a few pictures that I took for the day. Since the uploader didn't work the way I wanted it to, I can't put captions for each of them, but most of them are self explanitory. Kara is really good at the chicken dance, by the way!
